• Scaling to Confidential Compute slides
  We are about to embark on an interesting journey the creation of a new computing paradigm. What does it mean to create a new paradigm, and what sort of hardware and software eco-system do we require to deliver it at cloud to edge scale. This talk seek to identify opportunities for development and research as the paradigm unfolds.
  Simon Johnson is a Security Architecture in the Platform Security Division of Intel's Software and Services Group where he is also the Intel® Software Guard Extensions (SGX) Program Architect. Simon has been in the Information Security space nearly 25 years, previously working for the UK Government as an information security specialist before joining Intel where he has been working on leading edge security technologies for over 10 years.
  Whilst with the UK government Simon developed capabilities and advised a number of international and national level projects (including the data authentication & security standards for Biometric Passports and the PKI implementation used to issue UK passports)
  Since joining Intel Simon has worked on a variety of security products for including Intel’s Trusted Execution Technology (TXT) and Software Guard Extensions (SGX) where he leads advanced SGX architecture development for server CPUs in his role as SGX Program Architect.

  With the rise of Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), the prospect of running sensitive workloads in less controlled environments is becoming a reality. However, creating real-world applications that can operate within the constraints imposed by TEE models is still a complex and challenging task.

  Keith Moyer is a Senior Software Engineer in Google's Confidential Computing group, focused on the Asylo framework (https://asylo.dev).
